A battery is a hardware component that supplies power to a device. Batteries are often capable of powering a machine for several hours depending on how much power it requires. Many high-end devices such as computer laptops and cell phones use rechargeable batteries that allow a user to recharge the battery once depleted of energy.
Today we will share the steps you can take to check on your battery status and whether or not you need to get your battery replaced.
MacBook Users
- Power on your MacBook and click the Apple logo in the top left corner of your MacBook
- Click ‘About This Mac’, then ‘System Report’
- On the left-hand side, click ‘Power’
Under ‘Health Information’, check the ‘Condition’ and ‘Cycle Count’
Cycle Count
The cycle count represents how many times a battery has been fully charged and drained. The battery life of your machine will gradually reduce over years of usage. For MacBooks, if the cycle count is over 1000, it’s time to get it replaced! If your cycle count is less than 1000, you can still opt to get your battery replaced if your machine can only last 1-2 hours while running on battery.
Condition
Normal: The battery is functioning normally.
Service Recommended: The battery’s ability to hold a charge is less than when it was new or it isn’t functioning normally. You can safely continue to use your Mac but we’ll recommend bringing it down to our service centre to get your battery evaluated.
Replace Now or Service Battery: The battery needs to get replaced immediately. Drop us a quick Whatsapp message here for a quick price quotation!

- Open and scroll down to the Battery Information section:
This report will give you a lot of stats, but the one you want to pay the most attention to is the Design Capacity versus the Full Charge Capacity.
You can compare the Design Capacity to the Full Charge Capacity to see how much the battery life has deteriorated over time.
The cycle count represents how many times the battery has been fully charged from 0%.
Generally, if your Windows Laptop is unable to be used for more than 1-2 hours or powers off randomly while running on battery, it’s time to get your battery replaced. Drop us on quick Whatsapp message here for a quick price quotation!
