Windows 11 Will Be Released Soon

Windows 11 will be available for Windows 10 users to download.

Can’t wait for the general release of Windows 11 later this year? Microsoft’s new operating system is currently available for download in an early version. Here’s how to do it.

Windows 11 will be released soon. Microsoft’s new operating system will begin rolling out to eligible devices today, and if you already have Windows 10, the update will be free. If your device is compatible and satisfies the basic criteria, you’ll be able to update to the new software the same way you would with Windows 10, once it arrives. (And even if it doesn’t, Microsoft will provide a solution, though it will not be supported.)

If you’re a Windows Insider and can’t wait for the final release, you can download the first Windows 11 Insider Preview build today and try out some of the new features, including widgets, snap layouts, virtual desktops, and the new Microsoft Store. We’ll show you how to do it down below.

Here’s all you need to know about Microsoft’s new software before you download it. To begin, you may check to see if your current Windows 10 PC qualifies for the free upgrade to Windows 11 in a few different ways. Furthermore, if you purchase a new PC between now and the general release, you will be eligible for the free upgrade.

That is still valid. It’s a good idea to make the transition now to get your PC ready for the Windows 11 update. That method will also work if you want to manually upgrade an older machine to Windows 11, however Microsoft advises against doing so because it may not be eligible for the same updates.

How to Download the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build?

You can download a preview copy of Windows 11 right now if you’re a member of the Windows Insider Program (you may join for free right now). It’s worth noting, though, that beta versions, especially early ones, are notoriously buggy. You should never install a beta on your primary device; instead, if you have one, you should install it on a tester device. For the most part, it’s best to wait until October for the wide release. This first build also does not include all of the new features that will be included in the final release.

Still want to give it a shot? Here’s how to do it.

In the Windows 11 beta, try out new features like widgets.

1. Verify that your device is running a licensed version of Windows 10 and that you are an administrator on it. If you haven’t already, sign up for the Windows Insider Program. Alternatively, log in to your Windows Insider account. Start your flight by pressing the Start button.

2. Select Update & Security > Windows Insider Program from the Settings menu. To begin, click the Get Started button.

3. Select + to connect the Microsoft account you registered with and continue under Pick an account to get started.

4. Follow the prompts to select the Insider Preview build experience and channel you wish to use: Dev (for developers), Beta (for early adopters), or Release Preview (for people who want to obtain the latest version right before it’s broadly released). This build will only be available in the Dev channel.

5. Read the Privacy Statement and Terms & Conditions before clicking Confirm. Click the Restart Now button.

6. Check your data settings after resuming to ensure you may download preview builds. To do so, navigate to Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & feedback and toggle the Optional Diagnostic Data option to On.

7. Select Update & Security > Windows Update from the Settings menu. Check for updates by clicking the Check for updates button. Based on your settings, you should see the most recent Insider Preview build.

Your device should then update as it would with any other Windows update, and you should be ready to go.

When Windows 11 is released in October to all Windows users with compatible computers, you’ll download it just like any other new version of Windows. The majority of people will go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. You’ll see Feature update to Windows 11 if it’s available. Install by clicking the Download button.

When Windows 11 becomes broadly available, here’s how to get it.

Here’s How You’ll Download Windows 11 When It’s Widely Available

When Windows 11 is released in October to all Windows users with compatible computers, you’ll download it just like any other new version of Windows. The majority of people will go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. You’ll see Feature update to Windows 11 if it’s available. Install by clicking the Download button.

However, keep in mind that the Windows 11 rollout will be sluggish, and it may take months for it to reach your device. New PCs will be the first to receive the upgrade, with all supported devices receiving it by mid-2022, depending on device age and hardware.

What if I upgrade my PC?

And if you buy a new PC between now and the general release , that computer will also be eligible for the free upgrade.

Can I download a preview build of Windows 11?

If you’re a member of the Windows Insider Program (you can sign up now for free), you can download a preview build of Windows 11 now.

What channels are available?

Follow the instructions to choose the experience and channel you want to get Insider Preview builds through: the Dev channel (for developers), the beta channel (for early adopters) or the release preview channel (for those who want to get the latest version just before it’s generally released).
